My problem is this: When I try to launch a program, in this example South Park: The Stick of Truth, in wine (ie. Wine windows program loader), the cursor goes to its loading motion for short time but then stops and the program won't load. This problem has persisted on this installation and I am clueless what could cause this and how to solve it.
I have checked every resource related to the game (originally, it game me that failed to load dx9 dll but I fixed it by installint directx9 and making required changes to the game), appdb says it should work fine. It just won't load and this problem happens with other windows programs too.
My distro is Linux Mint Debian Edition.
I hope somebody has some idea on what is the cause of this behaviour.
Programs won't start in wine
Re: Programs won't start in wine
Post terminal output. http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#get_log
You didn't mention what Wine version you're using. If it's not the latest development release, upgrade.

Re: Programs won't start in wine
Okay, I checked and the output gives nothing while I found out that yes, I have the old 1.4 version (yeah, I didnt think that lmde would include the old version of wine in repo and didnt check for that). Now I got a bit of a problem installing the new version.
First of all, what files do I need from here when I am running lmde64bit?
http://dev.carbon-project.org/debian/wine-unstable/
Secondly, when trying to run any of the packages on gdebi it gives me these errors and won't let me install them. Why is this and how to get around it?
Error: Dependency is not satisfiable: libwine-unstable
Linian: E: wine64-unstable: statically-linked-binary usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/wine-unstable/bin/wine64-preloader

Re: Programs won't start in wine
Ask your distro; that's a packaging/package manager issue, not a Wine issue.
