I started using Steam on wine recently, and I've fought for every game I could, but several (Portal, Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012 and 2013, and... at least two more) refuse to work. Steam tells me that my computer (which ran these games when I ran Windows 7) doesn't meet the minimum requirements.
EDIT: Ten minutes later, Steam won't run at all. I'm seeing this when I run wine Steam.exe -no-dwrite

ravenfez wine --version kinda important to check old versions of wine + steam equal trouble. That the computer run particular games when Windows 7 does not mean it will with wine. Video driver quality is different between Windows and Linux to start off with.
