Magic- Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013, installed, won't run

Post by ravenfez »

Running wine 1.6.1 on Ubuntu 13.10.

Installed Steam on Linux fine, checked the list of DLLs and installed with winetricks, installed DotP in Steam, didn't get any errors.

Clicked "play" and... Nothing. Tried finding the .exe for the game and rightclick>run in wine, nothing happened. Tried running the .exe on its own in Terminal and got this-

err:module:import_dll Library X3DAudio1_7.dll (which is needed by L"C:\\Program Files\\Steam\\SteamApps\\common\\Magic 2013\\DotP_D13.exe") not found
err:module:LdrInitializeThunk Main exe initialization for L"C:\\Program Files\\Steam\\SteamApps\\common\\Magic 2013\\DotP_D13.exe" failed, status c0000135

Already had it. But, hey, at least now I know I have it.

Try upgrading Wine to the latest development release.

Well, that... Changed the error I'm getting, so... Progress?

wine client error:0: version mismatch 447/454.
Your wineserver binary was not upgraded correctly,
or you have an older one somewhere in your PATH.
Or maybe the wrong wineserver is still running?

You'll have to figure out which of the three possibilities apply. The third is most common, and easiest to check for and fix (just kill the running processes), but since you just upgraded, a problem with the upgrade seems more likely. Ask for help with that on the Ubuntu forum.
