Possible glitch with Wine and Word? Shift inconsistency

Post by mossfoot »

Strangely specific situation.

Basically I find that for some reason the shift doesn't always work -- but only with Microsoft Word. And I mean only. Right now, working fine, using LibreOffice, no problem. Absolutely anywhere else the shift works 100 percent of the time.

But with Microsoft Word (2007 and 2010) it sometimes doesn't. Often enough to be frustrating. I can't for the life of me understand why there might be some kind of communication interference on that one program.

I am using this on Ubuntu and Word is installed through WINE so I was wondering if it might in fact be a problem with that?

I've been using Word 2007 in Wine for 5 years, and I've never had that problem.

Is your wineprefix clean? There should be no overrides other than riched20.

I didn't even have riched20 on it seems. I activated it, though, to see if it makes a difference.

I wouldn't expect riched20 to help; it's needed more for Powerpoint than for Word.

Do you have ibus, scim, or xneur on your system? All have been reported to conflict with Wine.

I don't think so. It's a fairly clean Ubuntu install. I'm a noob and don't mess with settings much. Got OOlite, Minecraft installed for Ubuntu and Office on Wine and that's about it ;)

One of those could be installed by default. Check your package manager.
