Crash Upon Loading Spintires

Post by DVA8090 »

Hi

I've used Wine for quite a while now to run my windows games and now I've come across the first time trying to run one that requires steam: Spintires. I installed it, and initially it runs ok. The little prompt comes up, I log in, it connects, and the game starts. The game makes it to the main menu, and after that I usually am able to start the game. However, after driving the truck in the game, there are certain points I've found where the game stops and it gives me a message saying 'oops! spin tires crashed' and I am forced to close. So from then I did what I could to avoid these areas. But now I have a new predicament. I ended up saving a location that now causes that crash message to appear. The graphics load up just fine, i.e. the general shapes, but the game crashes right before, or while, it is loading the lighting and textures. Here is the last Wine log:

Some system specs of my Macbook Pro:

CPU: Core i5 2.1 GHz
Graphics: Intel HD 3000
RAM: 4GB

Any help in solving this is appreciated. I do not think its the graphics unit, as I have been able to run the game without issue for a long time.

There's an open bug about Spin Tires Beta needing native d3dx9_36.
If that is your issue you can try to work around by installing d3dx9 with winetricks.

I have that already installed. When the game runs, the rendering is fine apart from some minor mud splashes that are being rendered as black squares. It just seems that random areas in the game cause it to crash, including (sadly) the area I last saved.
