Cant get anything to work under wine

I am using a 64bit hp laptop running linux mint mate desktop. I have downloaded wine from the software manager and been trying to get various things running under wine currently without any success.
Things I have tried to install include diablo 2&3 starcraft 1&2 baldurs gate dungeon keeper so nothing that I would have thought would have been a major issue to run under wine.
The error messages I have been getting are generally graphics related so I tried downloading directx and installing that without any luck.
Have also tried using PlayonLinux as people were suggesting that as it does everything for you with best settings and had no luck there.
Yes I am kind of new to linux so not overly confident with the terminal but I dont see that as a problem as most things have a gui nowdays but as long as I know what I have to type into the terminal I am quite happy to use it.
This is the only thing that has me booting back into windows nowdays from time to time when I feel I want to play a game would really like to fix the problem so I don't have to do that.
I can try to install some more stuff to get screenshots of error messages if that helps.

Wine version? Graphics card and driver?

If your Wine version is not the latest development release, upgrade, and install one of the games to a clean wineprefix (no native dlls, nothing else installed) using plain Wine (no POL). If the problem persists, post terminal output. http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#get_log

Laptop HP 2000-2d26TU Notebook PC (This is the model number and upon searching this is the specs I found)
Processor:Intel® Pentium® B960 (2.2 GHz, 2 MB L3 cache)
Memory:4GB DDR3 1600MHz (max support 8GB)
Graphics Card:Intel™ UMA Shared Graphics

So I have just completely removed wine and pol from my system and reinstalled wine only from terminal with "sudo apt-get install wine1.7"
I installed starcraft just as it was first game on hand and quick to install
Tried running from both terminal and not from terminal with same result saying about directX below I have included the code error as well as an image of the error message after trying this and finding out about the directX error I tried to install directX error message included
Hopefully this information is helpful to someone and is the correct information asked for but to me it doesn't make any sense at all

I don't know exactly how to fix that on Mint, but it should just be a matter of installing the right package.

Once you do that, start over with a clean wineprefix as trying to install directx likely screwed things up.

Would anyone know how to fix this as Im not sure myself
I did find this website http://www.codeweavers.com/support/wiki ... ssingLibGL of the packages listed there the only one I found in my software sources was libgl1-mesa-glx and it is already installed.
So I'm not sure what it is I am meant to do to fix it

You said your system is 64 bit, so what you need is libgl1-mesa-glx:i386. If your package manager doesn't show it, ask your distro where to find it.
