I'm not sure if this is a known issue with an easy workaround but I've looked everywhere for information about this issue and I've found nothing.
The problem is that when a Wine application opens, generally using a 3rd party launcher like Steam or Origin, the Wine window opens in the background and I am unable to switch to it. Pressing the "super" key will cascade all my open windows and I can see that the Wine application is running in the background but when I click it (or switch to it in anyway), I am taken to the desktop background. When this happens there is effectively no way to switch to the window.
I am experiancing this issue on Ubuntu Gnome 14.04. It also happened on Ubuntu 14.04 using Unity.

Re: Problems switching to Wine windows in Gnome
Try running in an emulated virtual desktop (on the Graphics tab in winecfg).
