Hearthstone Won't Open

Good Afternoon All,
I am having an issue trying to run Hearthstone on my Dell Inspiron 700m laptop.
I followed the guide I found here (http://news.softpedia.com/news/How-to-P ... 4410.shtml) and I was able to successfully install the Battle.net agent and the Hearthstone game.
The agent opens fine, but when I click the big blue Play button to launch Hearthstone from the agent, the button goes grey and says "Playing Now game is launching" and after about 5 seconds it goes back to blue and says Play.
No error message, no splash screen or window opens, nothing. Just says it's launching, playing now, then back ti Play like nothing happened.

I've rebooted and confirmed all the settings from every tutorial I could find. I even tried using PlayOn Linux to install it for me, but that produced different issues that wouldn't launch the game.

I'm using Wine 1.7.18 but also tried 1.6.2 with no help.
The system is an old Intel Centrino with 1.25 GB RAM and an Intel Extreme Graphics 2 chipset. Currently running Lubuntu 14.04 32-bit.

Did you update the battle.net launcher? I was having the same issue, tried launching Hearthstone independently of the launcher, it updated, and things appear to be working fine.

I think Hearthstone is having some issues at the moment, though. (I seem to recall Blizzard saying something about connectivity issues on twitter with Hearthstone.)

Yes, the launcher was updated when I installed Hearthstone.
It says the Battle.net version is 1.1.2.4511 and the agent version is 1.13.0.2880.

I have tried running the game outside the launcher, but I get the same result. I see my hard drive light kick on and there's a bit of activity, but then nothing. It doesn't open the launcher or anything. Literally nothing opens on the screen.

I'm assuming it isn't an issue with the hearthstone servers since it's been going on for a few days now and has never worked on my installation yet.

Could be a little of column A, little of column B. They just had another outage (via BlizzardCS on twitter), but it looks like WINE 1.7.18 has issues, too.

I read through the bug report. Unfortunately, I don't really know what they mean by "reverting the patch" or how to do that.
I did however, try the previous version of wine, 1.1.17, via PlayOnLinux to see if the issue is caused by version 1.7.18, but that did not seem to change the outcome. Still nothing launching. It's like it's getting killed before the game even opens.

Could it possibly be due to the amount of RAM I have? I know HS recommends 2 GB and I have only 1.25 GB, but I thought I had heard reports of other users with lower speced machines than mine being able to run the game, just with some performance issues.

You would have to build Wine from source.

I don't know why you expected it to. The bug report clearly identifies the problem as starting in 1.7.17. If you want to downgrade, it needs to be to an earlier version
