Installed game can't see CDROM drive

Post by aethersis »

Hello,
I succesfully installed Jedi Academy on Linux using Wine 1.7. After that, I mounted iso with game image using mount -t iso9660 ... and winecfg detects it. It is also marked as CD_ROM. However when I run the game, it does CDROM check and it gives me an error Disk 1 not in drive. What can be the possible reason of this error? I guess it may check CDROM label and I have no idea how wine emulates the label and whether it is correctly chosen or not. It could be also some kind of security system with ISO image, however when I was mounting it on Windows, using daemon tools, everything with the game worked correctly! Unfortunatelly I don't have an optical drive in my PC. Could you help please?

Mounting an iso does not emulate real hardware; Daemon Tools does. Try CDEmu.

Thanks, I will give it a try. I found a cracked exe and looks like someone finally did it so correctly that it runs flawlessly without iso now!

aethersis cracked versions of software we do not provide support on. CDEmu or real disc. Preference from our point of view real disc when reporting bugs so it not the device emulation error. This is bug isolation.

Cracked versions have bugs in unique and odd ways at times don't expect us to help. Also don't report that the program is working on the appdb if using cracks either. If you have to use a crack to run something its rating garbage.

aethersis you said it your self the crack finally looks to work correctly the problem we have here is neither you or us can possible know if that crack is perfect. So you do need to get real disc or CDEmu method working with preference to real-disc so you can isolate if a issue is the crack or not. Yes the cracks is really only useful to those who really own the games because without the real game you cannot tell when its a game fault or the crack.
