Concise Oxford English Dictionary

Post by peterthebike »

I have been using this for many years on Ubuntu but I find every so often it will not run and I have to re-install it. Currently I am on Ubuntu 13.10 and after using the Software Updater recently it seems the Concise Oxford will not run.

Running it from a terminal there are no error messages. In fact after entering:

Code: Select all

wine coed11.exe
it returns to the prompt after a short delay.

Is there a way of diagnosing the problem please?

Try reinstalling to a clean wineprefix.

What exactly did you update? If it was Wine, what version did you update to? If you upgraded to 1.7.15, and a clean wineprefix doesn't fix the problem, please run a regression test and file a bug. http://wiki.winehq.org/RegressionTesting

Not sure because I normally just accept the prompt to run the Software Updater and because of how often I use the dictionary, I could not say which update might have caused the problem.

Today after booting up my PC I just tried to run the Concise Oxford. It loaded up for the first time in about 3 days! :x

The annoying thing is a number of other programs I run under Wine have always continued working OK. It has always been this one that sometimes stops working. I will wait until it stops the next time and try reinstalling to a clean wineprefix.
