Hello, I downloaded wine and tried installing this game that I got from gog (good old games). It is the complete version with the expansions. When I first tried to run it it wouldn't install completely because it gave me an error (and still does in a fresh install). I can't remember the error message off the top of my head. Anyhow, I updated wine to the latest version (it was 1.7 before I believe) and I installed winetricks and tried to follow the wiki. I installed directx 9 with winetricks and installed vcrun2010 the same way. I downloaded the dlls and because I was having difficulty using winecfg to find the exe (because it is located in a hidden folder in /.wine/) I simply moved them to the game folder where I saw other dlls hoping it would work.
I tried following the tips here: https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager. ... &iId=17426
However when I went to edit the registry I did not see HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\Direct3D. I got to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\ but there was no direct3D folder or whatever.
I tried running the program again and I got these two error messages:

Forgive me if this is a novice question as I am new to wine and I am using korora 20 (a distro of fedora).

I'm not sure if you mean a virtual machine? No.. at least as far as I know. Are you asking if I am running wine as a VM or another VM from my desktop?

I meant your distro, because the screenshot you posted said the driver vendor was VMWare. But I did a little googling, and it turns out VMWare merely wrote the driver, so never mind about that. What I also got from googling is that the "llvmpipe" means your driver is using software rendering, so something is wrong with your driver installation. I don't know what; ask for help on your distro support forum. (IMO, missing 32 bit libraries are a good place to start looking.)

Ok, so I managed to install the video card last night, but it is still giving me the same error when I run nwn2main.exe directly from the .wine/drive_c/GOG Games/Neverwinter Nights 2/ directory. Here is the log.txt

The errors are not all the same; the one about not recognizing your card is gone, which is good. The current set of errors are mostly related to sound, specifically PulseAudio:

I disabled pulseaudio by doing: yum remove alsa-plugins-pulseaudio (fedora documentation) then I restarted and this was my output.
Oh and it gave me a blank black screen that I had to manually terminate. I only let it load for about a minute, but previously that would give the program enough time to throw up the 3d error. By the way thank you for all of your help so far. I think I may try installing the proprietary audio driver. Lots of ideas!

this time the onscreen error said something about a wine internal error and it resized my onscreen resolution to 1024X768

That will not disable PulseAudio, but it will make Wine unable to work with it.I disabled pulseaudio by doing: yum remove alsa-plugins-pulseaudio (fedora documentation) then I restarted and this was my output.
You need to uninstall the winepulse driver, or contact its author for support. As the message says, it's not supported here. After uninstalling winepulse, reinstall alsa-plugins and try again with PulseAudio enabled. Also, make sure you have 32 bit versions of all sound libraries/plugins installed, your PulseAudio version should be 3.0 or later and alsa-plugins 1.0.26 or later.Code: Select all
