Steam does not start after entering Steamguard credentials

Hi everyone,

I am running Wine 1.6.1 on a 64-bit Linux Mint 16 (Petra) system with a dual-core Intel CPU and 8GB of memory.

I am able to start my Steam client using the --no-dwrite option. Steamguard starts and I enter my Steam username and password plus the string emailed to me by Steam as I am installing it for the first time on my Linux machine. After this the Steamguard window disappears but the Steam application never starts. I never see the main Steam application window in which my games are listed.

NB : I have to start Steam with the --no-dwrite option as without it I cannot see what text I am entering into Steamguard.

Any help on how I can overcome this gratefully received.

Upgrade Wine. Steam will not work in any version older than 1.7.8. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35030
