After today's steamclient update I cannot launch steam anymore.

I'm running Ubuntu 12.04.4 LTS

I googled the error but couldn't find a solution.

Wine version? If it's older than 1.7.8, Steam will not work.

Wine 1.7.8 according to synaptic package manager.

I managed to bypass the error by launching steam directly from .wine\dosdevices\c:\program files (86)\steam even though the shortcut points to that location.
