No mouse in Monkey island 4

Post by volapyk »

Escape from monkey island is reported to work in the appdb, but on my system I can't get the mouse working. There is no cursor at all. I'm not using Compiz when using wine. Wine version: 1.0

I also tried a patched version of wine and the mouse still does not work in MI4.

Any solution? Perhaps editing xorg?

Thanks in advance...

Now on wine 1.1. Still no mouse. I've tried several setting in winecfg, but nothing works. I've also tried to run the game on an emulated 800x640 desktop, but the Game forces itself to fullscreen.

No ideas? :)

The version in the AppDB is 1.x; there doesn't seem to be an entry for Monkey Island 4.

Does your mouse work in notepad? Is this installed to a clean wineprefix?

Yes the mouse works in Notepad. It also works in Starcraft fullscreen.

It's a "normal" wine install in Mandriva 2008.1 using Wine as Win98. Tried as XP and Win2k also. I didn't give MI4 some special command during install. I just double clicked and ran the installer. All is perfect but no mouse.

Thank you for your answer. :)

Wine does not support animated cursors. If you can disable them in game - that would be one way to fix the problem.

I'm aware of this, but Monkey Island 4 was reported to work with earlier non-patched versions of Wine, so I thought it would work. I also tried a patched version of Wine. Still no mouse cursor. I don't think it's possible to disable animated cursors in Monkey Island 4 so I'll have to let it go for now.

Good thing that Monkey Island 1-3 work very well with ScummVm on Linux. :)

Thank you for the reply.

Yes there is an entry in the Appdb. Monkey Island 4 is called "Escape from Monkey Island". Version 1.x of "Escape From Monkey Island" is rated "gold". :)

Um, Monkey Island 4 doesn't use the mouse. You have to use the keyboard.

Seriously? Also in Windows? I must admit I never played MI4. Suddenly my mouse problem makes a lot more sense *LOL*
