Another question about getting N1MM to run under WINE

Post by jpcurtin »

I am a new user to Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. I desire to run N1MM. I have installed WINE 1.4. When using WINETRICKS to install MS Jet40, I receive the message "Please download mdac_typ.exe from http://download.cnet.com/Microsoft-Data ... 29498.html, place it in /home/joe/.cache/winetricks/mdac27, then re-run this script."

A webpage at CNET automatically loaded and I download the app on that webpage. The downloaded app then installs itself, then runs, and takes me to another page at CNET. When all of that seems to end, I have re-run WINETRICKS to install MS Jet40, but I enter the same loop. Insanely, I repeated the process maybe three times. No difference.

I do not know enough about Ubuntu or Linux to ask an intelligent question (or at least what I think would be an intelligent question).

At the very least, I need a clue to move pass this obstacle. Let me know if you need more details. I can easily (and insanely) repeat the process to provide more details.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Best regards,
Joe

Your Wine version is old and no longer supported. Start by upgrading to the latest development release. If it still doesn't work, post terminal output. http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#get_log
