Many steam games refuse to start.

A ton of games on my steam won't start. Every time i try to start them, it says "Installing Microsoft Directx for Windows (Step 1 of 1). The window then closes, steam says that I'm playing the game but nothing opens. A few games that were affected by this are Farming Simulator 2013 and Payday 2. Both with platinum ratings. Chivalry also used to do this but, for no apparent reason, it now works. Any suggestions on this are greatly appreciated.

When running Payday 2

this might be caused by a corrupted ClientRegistry.blob file in your steam directory.

You could try deleting it. You'll need to reenter your steam account name and password afterwards.
Not entirely sure if that helps though.
