Hi,
Starting a few days ago, whenever I tried to launch steam it would attempt to update but always fail saying the same error. Ive been playing dota 2 on steam through wine for a few weeks without any problems until now. Let me know if anyone has had the same issue and can help me resolve it. Attached is the text file of the error message.

Those 4 threads are difficult to find via search actually. Search does not easily sort by date or by forum.
The current supposed solution is to update your wine to version 1.7.8. That simply does not work for me. Steam hangs often on authentication and will not download any of my games in my game library.
