How to achieve more Mac-Like behavior?

Post by KenBotwinick »

Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone could help with this.

I'd like the following basic Mac behavior when using Wine. Is any of it possible?

Command-H hides the app
Command-A selects all text in a text field
Command-Left/Right Arrow moves to beginning or end of line of text field
Option-Left/Right Arrow moves one word to the left or right in a text field
Command-Up/Down Arrow moves to top or bottom of entire text field
Command-C/V copies and pastes

Also, complete disabling of the annoying Windows menu shortcut behavior where pressing the command key highlights the menus to be traversed by arrow keys...

Anyone know of how to accomplish any of that using registry hacks? 3rd party utilities that work with Wine? Might that behavior be added to Wine's Mac window management in the future?

Would be so happy if I could get those working. I think I had accomplished all that when using Crossover because I could use QuicKeys on the Mac to create macros to hijack the behavior. But I've switched to Wine's development builds and QuicKeys doesn't work with them for some reason... :(

Thanks for any ideas...

This seems to be what I want:

But doesn't seem to work with wine...

I could use a Parallels image (since Parallels updates these modifiers), but I don't want the huge overhead just to use Quicken. And there's also a bug when using Parallels via RealVNC that it won't capitalize letters. And I use my computer remotely very often... And Parallels does an AWFUL job about fixing bugs. I told them about this bug at least a year ago...

Why can't there ever be one solution that just works without things that need to be worked around... Sigh...
