Creating "Wine Files" ...waiting

Post by brice »

Ive ran wine in the past with guildwars and had NO problems....now i am trying to install NHL 2004 up on here, and whenever i try to run the .exe with wine, an install window pops up at it says "creating wine files" and tells me to wait...and i have had it open for a good hour. also, if i try to make an app for it using wine bottler, the same thing happens...anybody know the solution?

Wine doesn't have that message... Are you using the Wine.app that comes with WineBottler? That is part of WineBottler, and not normal Wine.

exactly my point... you cannot do that with normal Wine... you are using WineBottler. The "Wine" that comes with WineBottler is NOT normal Wine and is part of WineBottler.

Normal Wine on OSX is command line... no right click and Open With.

Only normal Wine is supported here. If you need help with WineBottler, you'll have to get help wherever WineBottler gives help at.

You have to install the X11 libraries. It seems to depend on your OSX version, but you can get it from
xquartz.macosforge.org.
Then log out and in again to make X11 your default server and wine (or the bottler) should work.
