Steam Windows Version, Blank Windows On Startup (No Text)?

I installed the windows version of steam through wine by right cliking the steam.msi installer and selecting run with wine.
I assume that is neccesary to run windows versions of Steam games.

Everything installed fine but when I start steam it pops up a window with some dropdown bars that I would expect to contain text but they are blank.

I've never used Steam before so I can't navigate blindly through the menus.

Once I get steam running I want to get Batman Arkham Asylum running.

Disable dwrite.dll in winecfg.
