Re: Java issue when trying to run Q2 Internet radio
Did you install Windows Java in Wine? You need to.
Re: Java issue when trying to run Q2 Internet radio
Yes. As part of the app. instal there was a prompt to instal java. However, java is in the 64 bit program folder and the app is in the 32 bit folder.dimesio wrote:Did you install Windows Java in Wine? You need to.
Re: Java issue when trying to run Q2 Internet radio
Install 32 bit Java with winetricks.
Re: Java issue when trying to run Q2 Internet radio
Is 32 bit Java meant to be an app. in winetricks, because I cannot see it in my winetricks?dimesio wrote:Install 32 bit Java with winetricks.
I have tried downloading from the java.com website and the file I end up with is:
jre-7u25-windows-i586-iftw.exe
Isn't this 64 bit?
I have tried opening this file with wine. The java installer starts, then stops with the message:
Downloaded File \Sun\Java\jre1.7.0_25\java_sp.dll is corrupt.
I also get the corrupt file message when trying to instal Windows Live Essentials.
Re: Java issue when trying to run Q2 Internet radio
I thought winetricks had a java verb, but I guess you're right; I don't see it either.
Try redownloading and once you have the correct file, install it to a clean 32 bit wineprefix. http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#32_bit_wineprefix
I just downloaded Java for Windows from Oracle's website, and the file I got is jre-7u40-windows-i586.exe. It installs to a 32 bit wineprefix without problem in 1.7.1.jre-7u25-windows-i586-iftw.exe

Re: Java issue when trying to run Q2 Internet radio
Thank you. Found this and downloaded.jre-7u40-windows-i586.exe
Question about the wineprefix. Is this the location of the .wine folder, i.e. is the current prefix:
/home/username/.wine (this is where my .wine is)
To create the new prefix, do I run:
WINEARCH=win32 WINEPREFIX=/home/username/.wine32bit winecfg
As this is run in the terminal at username@machinename, do I need the /home/username/ part of the prefix?
How does wine know which prefix to use when installing. Also, will I have to instal the original application again in the new prefix?
Re: Java issue when trying to run Q2 Internet radio
That will work provided you use your real username.bob_j33 wrote: WINEARCH=win32 WINEPREFIX=/home/username/.wine32bit winecfg
You can substitute ~ or $HOME for the /home/username part, but you can't just leave it off.As this is run in the terminal at username@machinename, do I need the /home/username/ part of the prefix?
Specify the wineprefix when running the installer. Any links created by winemenubuilder should have the WINEPREFIX variable specified in them, so they should just work. You will have to specify the wineprefix when running from the command line. Yes, you will have to reinstall the app to the new wineprefix. http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#wineprefixHow does wine know which prefix to use when installing. Re: Java issue when trying to run Q2 Internet radio
Have just got round to trying to create a 32 bit wine directory.
Terminal command and response is below. The directory is created but there are errors. Is this response normal or has something failed?

Re: Java issue when trying to run Q2 Internet radio
The mscoree errors are normal. The p11-kit errors aren't Wine errors, and shouldn't affect anything in Wine, but you can get rid of them by installing 32 bit gnome-keyring.
Re: Java issue when trying to run Q2 Internet radio
Thank you. How do I identify 32 bi gnome-keyring in Synaptic (perhaps this is the wrong place to ask this question).
Re: Java issue when trying to run Q2 Internet radio
In the Terminal, I have run the command:
export WINEPREFIX=/home/robert/.wine32bit wine winecffg
which, unless I have misunderstood, should set my wine prefix to the 32bit folder.
I then stared the windows executable, jre-7u40-windows-i586.exe, and received the message:
Installer :Wrapper.CreateFile failed with error 3: Pathe not found.
What step have I missed?

Re: Java issue when trying to run Q2 Internet radio
How exactly did you start the java installer?
Re: Java issue when trying to run Q2 Internet radio
Sorry for the delay in replying, been busy on other things.
I right clicked on the executable and opened with Wine Windows Program Loader.

Re: Java issue when trying to run Q2 Internet radio
If you're installing anything to a wineprefix other than the default, you have to do it from the command line, because you have to specify the wineprefix you want it installed to.
