Wine 1.7.1 on Debian Wheezy - Link Inside

Post by mangocheese »

Hey guys,

I was having trouble finding the compiled Wine 1.7.1 on Debian binaries, so I spent some time compiling it for everyone.

You can download the deb file from this link: https://t.co/BegElvMVaN (just my Google Drive account).

I haven't extensively tested it but it seems to work fine.

Any questions, queries, advice? Let me know!

Thanks! :)

This is great! How were you able to compile this on Wheezy? Are your running 64-bit Wheezy?

Right now the only method I know that works to compile 32-bit wine on 64-bit Wheezy is the chroot method, did you find some other way of doing this?

Thanks again :)

Thanks for your work, your deb package allows users to have the latest version of Wine for debian in a single package!! Super stable for me, nothing more to say!! ;)

Many thanks Mangocheese.
I have been hunting for several months for a WINE program to run Microsoft Works 9 on Linux Mint Debian.
Your compilation works well. It was a little convoluted to get it installed but once there performs admirably.

God Bless you for your generosity.

Thank you very much for this mangocheese. It's rather difficult to get an installation for 64bit debian to work right, and your package made it pretty painless. Do you have any plans to update your .deb to reflect more recent versions of the current development branch?

Hello mangocheese,

What a great initiative you had compiling a .deb package for Debian. I'd like to have it installed on my LMDE system and this seems the most realistic way for me to go...

Unfortunately, the link you provide here - https://t.co/BegElvMVaN - doesn't seem to work anymore, following it brings me to a message saying that this file does not exist :(
May I ask you if you'd be kind enough to re-host it somewhere and provide a link here ?

In case you do not have the possibility to store the .deb file for a relatively long period of time, I'd be more than happy to host it on a server of mine and provide an (almost) permanent link, just let me know.

Thanks again.

Please repost it because wine is truly a pain in Debian for me so far.

I am bumping this for interest. I was wondering if anyone has this file? The link is dead.
