Problem with data input on Filemaker 5.5

Post by atomed »

Hi

I'm using a filemaker 5.5 based standalone program for my book store management. Everything goes ok except some search boxes where I cannot type anything in. I can although copy a text to the clipboard and paste it there. May there be some specific configuration for text input I'm missing?

I am using openSuSE 12.2 with Kernel 3.4.33-2.24-desktop. The Wine version I'm using is 1.5.6 and the management program is free to download from here:

Thanks in advance.

Your Wine version is old; try the latest development release. If it doesn't work in the latest development release, post terminal output. http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#get_log

I downloaded the program from the link you provided and installed it, but it requires a password to run it.

I can confirm the problems of atomed.

I use Kubuntu 13.04 (KDE 4.10.5 ) and wine 1.4.1, trying to run Filemaker 5.5 Developer. After updating to wine 1.6 the problems still occur.

If it's not working, it looks like Filemaker/Wine denied every keyboard entry, even <Tab> but copy & past still works. Selection with the mouse works also fine, as far as I tested.

Workaround:

It seems to work after Filemaker/wine loses the focus. If I move the mouse over another running program, without click, and move back to Filemaker/wine I can insert data again.

For productive use, that's looks a bit labile to me.

Unfortunately I spend some lifetime to find the workaround before finding the Bug report. :(

By the way, there is one other: Bug #23978, looks similar to me.
