I have a lot of experience at running hMailserver under Windows, now I'm running Ubuntu.
Ubuntu 13.04, Wine 1.6, WinTricks 0.0+20130707, hMailserver-5.4-B1950.exe, dependency mdac28.
The install started by telling me that something (another mail server?) was using ports 25|110|143 , which definitely isn't the case, but the install apparently went well. I chose the default configuration using MS SQL Server Compact Edition v3.5 for its database (included in the package) which I can see in /drive_c/Program Files/ as .dlls OK, so there is no need for additional software.
But the server hasn't got as far as opening listening ports on 25|110|143|n according to netstat, so I can't connect to it with the Admin GUI on :n to get proper diagnostics.
The error log says it is having a problem with the database, either does not exist or access denied.
So my first question is has anyone had success with hMailserver?
Is there any Wine reason why it would NEVER work?
Could this be a permissions problem?
Dumb questions, I know, but I'm stuck.
