bizarre report of FlashGot firefox 3 extension starting Wine

Post by DanKegel »

http://tech-blog.dinotools.de/2008/06/2 ... linux-wine
says that after upgrading to firefox 3 on linux,
starting firefox would briefly open and close "a wine window",
and that it was triggered by the FlashGot extension if
FlashGot Options -> Advanced -> Automatic download manager detection
is enabled.

Whacky. I haven't tried it myself.

I have Firefox 3 and Flashgot with automatic download manager detection enabled, and I have not seen any Wine windows opening when I start Firefox. The only thing I can think of that might cause this is if the guy had installed a Windows download manager and set that as his default download manager.

The Flashgot home page says this about the latest version:
Windows visual download managers are now fully supported on Linux through Wine (tested with FlashGet and Orbit Downloader on Ubuntu 8.0.4). You can disable Wine support setting the flashgot.useWine about:config preference to false.
