Cannot move mouse to bottom of screen

I have got Rome Total War to work finally except for one problem. When I changed the screen resolution the mouse would only move 4/5ths of the way to the bottom of the screen. It is like there is a magic line drawn 1/5 of the way from the bottom that mouse will not go beyond.

Changing the resolutions will eventually get rid of the problem until you restart the game.

I think that it may be a video setting but I am not sure, and do not have enough knowledge to know which one it might be. If someone could help it would be greatly appreciated.

I have used it on Wine 1.6 and 1.2.
Ati radeon 5800, amd processor.

I found the problem. Under graphics I have emulate a desktop selected. If the resolution of the game is the same as the emulated desktop, then the problem stated above happens. If the resolution is less now, it works fine.
