I 'm trying to get Digital Editions to recognise the presence of my Kobo ereader running Wine 1.6 under Ubuntu 12.04. There's plenty of info about Wine and USB but it all seems to refer to older versions of Wine (as well as being complicated).
Running Wine config I can see the drive (mounted in my home dir). By default the type is Autodetect but following one suggestion I've changed it to Floppy disk, without any noticeable difference.
Under Linux, ls -ld gives: drwx------. (The owner is me.) Is this likely to be the problem? I don't seem to be able to change it with chmod.
Thanks

Re: Wine, Digital Editions, KOBO
The info about USB support in Wine is old because it hasn't changed. The person who was working on it gave up, and AFAIK no one else has taken it up.
But that info is for USB devices that require special drivers, and from what you say, that is not the case here: it is mounted as an ordinary drive, and Wine recognizes it. Have you tried accessing it from any other apps running in Wine?
There's already a bug for the problem with Digital Editions and the KOBO: http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=33257. You should add a comment to it noting that this is still an issue in 1.6, and attach terminal output to it.
