Civilization IV Beyond the Sword Problems

Post by vdeane »

I'm having some problems with Civilization IV: Beyond the Sword. When I was installing it, x froze at the point I needed to re-insert the first disc, and I had to kill it. I'm wondering is this is causing my later issues (also the game automatically went through the "update DirectX components" part of setup and that couldn't have helped things). I cannot get the patch to install at all. I click though the early installation screens, but when I hit "install", it just crashes with no error. If I try to run the game, I have scrambled graphics and it's unusable.

I'm running Linux Mint 14 (Mate, 32 bit) and have an ATI Mobility FireGL v5700 using the fireglx-legacy drivers.

Please help! I can't figure this out at all! Vanilla and Warlords both work fine and I can't figure out why.

I don't see an edit button so I'll just have to post a reply. I re-installed from the CD, this time without issue, and the patch was able to install. The graphics are still scrambled though.
