wine noob trying to get ps2 running

Post by yolomojo »

so im a linux and wine noob here who just built my first computer/ linux machine. Now i want to get Planetside 2 working but i cant do nothing. Im running it in steam, i downloaded it and click play, and what do i get? A big empty black box. That and 2 other small boxes that say "The program AwesomiumProcess.Exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to close. We are sorry yada yada yada....." underneath that it says it may be caused by a "problem in the program or a deficencyin Wine." and it gives be a link to the applications database here on the site, and it has done nothing for me. My friend said to go into properties via steam, local files, and click on "VIEW INTEGERTY OF GAME CACHEE". I used it and the first time i did it said "3 files failed to validate and will be reaquired" I tried to use this 3 more times, and each time it says "1 file failed to validate...." Im going to do this a few more times and see if it works. Any ideas to help a linux noob? thx

Apparently a recent update to the game made it unplayable in Wine. There's a patch in the bug report, but that would involve compiling Wine yourself. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=33341

Planetside 2 is currently not working. That patch is not required or helpfull.
The current bugreport is this one:
