256, 16bit color modes like VMware

Hi, I love using Wine but have one question. Would it be possible to implement, like vmware does, an option to change the screen depth to 8 or 16bit depth. This would be great for a lot of older games that require this screen depth. Using the nested screens is either problematic or just worthless, thanks

I use xinit to create a 16 bit display but I cant get the same display to produce 256 colors it is all corrupt with whatever program i use as said on the how to page in wine faq
