eLicense Control Center eLCC.exe

Post by akI* »

Hi,

im trying to get my USB eLicenser (Steinberg Produkt) http://www.elicenser.net/en/ detected by the eLicenser Control Center.
eLicenser Control Center need dotnet20 to start up fine, i installed it with winetricks.

But the USB eLicenser is not correctly recognized. The Control Center seems to see the stick the right way because if i plug in the USB Licenser it tolds me that the licenser will now be checked, but for some reasons the communication breaks down.

Here is what the console output says:

Code: Select all

The Software dont crash it only dont speak the right way to the USB Licenser. Is there a way i can fix that?

Theres also an error message in a popup window which says "Not all data sent! Amount of sent data". Let me know if you need a screen from it.

Code: Select all

wine --version

USB dongles don't work in Wine, and AFAIK, no one is working on it. There is an old patch you can try. http://wiki.winehq.org/USB

Okay i get that. Ill try the patch later this day and give a feedback.

But let me point to another problem with this software.

Generally there are two ways to store your licenses. You are able to choose to store them on the USB-Dongle or on the Soft-eLicenser. For the Soft-eLicenser a file named "SeLicenser.sel" on the hard disk is created and is used as a container to store licenses instead of using the USB device. This container file has a serialnumber just like a normal USB-eLicenser (2 x 10 digits).

This file the SeLicenser.sel is created during the installation of the eLicenser Control Center and should be showed up on the control center.
But it seems that in wine there is no Soft-eLicenser installed during the installation.
If i do a quick search on the PREFIX for SeLicenser.sel it doesnt show up.

I would try to copy and paste my SeLicenser.sel from windows to my winepath but im not sure where to put it. Normally its stored in C:\ProgramData\eLicenser\SeLicenser.sel (which is hidden by default in windows)

Can someone try to install the control center to see if the software SeLicenser.sel installation failes also on another system?

And theres another thing i wanted to know.

Problem (which is actually my problem):
In rare cases, the Soft-eLicenser cannot be created during the installation. If the Soft-eLicenser is missing the activation code needed for the permanent activation of the program cannot be requested. Downloading licenses is also not possible without a Soft-eLicenser (unless an USB-eLicenser is connected).

Solution:

Windows

Close all programs.
Download this file: http://support.steinberg.de/eLC/eLC_Ins ... Helper.exe
Double-click on the downloaded file to start the reinstallation of the eLicenser Control Center.
Please note that the eLC Installation Helper can only be executed if your Windows user account has administrative rights! If you are logged in to an Windows user account with limited rights you will be promted to provide an administrator's username and password.
Important! Only use the special installer if you cannot proceed the activation due to a missing Soft-eLicenser! The eLC Installation Helper will delete an existing Soft-eLicenser and all contained licenses without recall!

Next time you start the eLicenser Control Center the newly created Soft-eLicenser will be displayed.
That also dont work as im running in the same problem that the SeLicenser.sel is not installed.

If you read further informations you get this:
If the eLC Installation Helper failed to create a Soft-eLicenser the "Data Execution Prevention" of Windows might be the reason. Please check its setting according to this instruction:

Click on the Start button and select "Control Panel".
Windows XP: Click on "System".
Windows Vista & Windows 7: Click on "System and Security", then on " System" and finally on "Advanced system settings" in the list of options to the left.
The window "System Properties" pops up.
On the "Advanced" tab click under "Performance" on "Settings...".
The window "Performance Options" pops up.
On the "Data Execution Prevention" tab make sure the "Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only" is selected!
Close the window by clicking on "OK" and, if prompted, restart your computer.
Finaly, run the eLC Installation Helper once again following the instruction above.
Can i handle DEP in wine also? And if its possible, how can i configure it?

Thanks
