i have done everything correct as instructed by tutorials and videos!
I turn it into an .app file, the prefix is created successfully, i then click to open, it loads up, then the wine thing comes says its updating, please wait, then XQuartz opens, which is basically x11 but the updated one, and then a few seconds later, the .app i just made disappears from the dock and never opens. i have made several copies, i tried crossover, same exact thing... the .app file is successfully created, but opens, loads up, and it closes before i even see anything from the app.
the app im trying to install is an installer to get a game application.. its not freaking working and its annying, i tried downloading the .exe file from different websites but still no hoope...
Why arent my converted .exe files opening?
Re: Why arent my converted .exe files opening?
Turned what into an app file? You aren't making much sense. I have a feeling you are not using normal plain Wine and are using some 3rd party app like WineBottler. Crossover and normal Wine both do not create app files for you. Crossover will make a tiny app file that launches the program correctly for you in crossover, but that isn't much more than a startup script.
Re: Why arent my converted .exe files opening?
Okay, can you tell me how run, install, and actually make an .exe file work on mac?
i have Wine, and WineBottler, and WinOnX, and CrossOver, none of them seem to work when it actually comes to opening the finished converted product itself!

Wine doesn't convert anything. I'm assuming the "Wine" you have is just the WineBottler Wine.app, which is part of WineBottler, and not plain Wine. Normal Wine usage on OS X you need to compile source code and run command line.... which is what is supported on this forum. Macports makes that easier, but its still command line. If you cannot get any 3rd party app like you mention that happens to use Wine working correctly, you need to get support from the makers of those actual programs.Saiffers wrote:Okay, can you tell me how run, install, and actually make an .exe file work on mac?

All that said, making Wine run an exe is not always a simple click click run type method, and it comes down to what your trying to run. Some things run find by default, some need settings changed, some need other products installed (which can be a headache in itself), and some will not work at all yet. Sometimes it can be very difficult getting the program you want to work to work correctly.
If you need more help (on this forum) you need to be using plain normal Wine command line... you need to give info about the exact program your trying to get to work as well... just saying "a exe" is useless to getting help. I know little about the 3rd party products you mention, as I make and use Wineskin... and even then I don't support that on this forum as its still a 3rd party product to WineHQ.org.
