Office 2010 Intertional Keyboard

Post by b00lean1337 »

Hello All,

I've searched everywhere for an answer to my problem.
I hope you guys can help me.

Linux Mint 14 KDE
OS Version: Linux 3.5.0-17-generic
KDE SC Version: 4.9.5

Wine: 1.4.1

Office 2010
Word: 14.0.6023.1000

In Linux Mint, I can use all the characters of my language, IE: gedit
but when I launce Word 2010, The charcters won't work. Alt just toggles the menus.
NO matter what I try I cannot type my characters IE: żźćąśłę (It worked fine in this post)

Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but some of the people working in the office require to write in different languages, and as it was my decision to move to Linux and unfortuntly keep Office as our suite of choice (more to do with the clients we service)
I have to get it working... :(

Thank you for your time, I really hope someone out there has found an answer to this or if together we can find it, I'm sure this will greatly help more people that have avoided getting rid of windows...

Best Regards,

Jeremy S

Upgrade Wine; Word's shortcut keys for special characters work fine on my system in 1.5.27.

Hello,

Thank you for your response,

I've updated to the latest verison,

I still am trying to get the characters, I use right Alt to do it inside of linux, but it still won't do it in Word, could you explain how you get the characters to show up???

Thank you so much!

Use the shortcut keys built into Word. You'll find them in Insert=>Symbol=>More Symbols. They are editable.

Hello,

Thank you that I guess works in a way, But the best solution would be to make the international keyboard work.

Any future help will be appreciated

Thank you for the temporary fix!!!

There seem to be similar bugs in bugzilla:
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30984
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=33261

In the first one there's a description of some workaround ("setxkbmap us"), you could try that, though I have to admit, that I'm not really understanding, what's going on there. If it's still not working open a new bug.
