Hello,
yesterday I installed Planetside 2 on my x64-Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. The installation finished without any trouble, like the patching to the current version. As I were happy that it went so well, I started the game. The charcter list menu showed some strange glichtes, but these didn't affect the usability of it. I chosed my current character and tried to play but as soon as I were logged in, I wasn't able to move or look around. My keyboards is like it is disabled to the game and the mouse cursor is still show, althrough it shouldn't. I escaped the game using the Super key, which leads to an Crash(It also opens this website, which tells that an error G12 happend. This also happens why I try to change the render quality setting in the character list menu(the button to the menu is located in the left down corner). After some research I stumbled upon this and this. I tried to delete the corrensponding files, but it changed nothing. After that, I installed the CrossOver trial and tried it with that and surprisingly this fixed the Issue. Unfortunately I was no not able open any menus(using the escape and M key) which leaded also to an crash. This bug is similar to this one, but replacing imm32.dll helped nothing. I tried it with several, one from my Windows installation(which is unbootable) and one from www.dll-files.com. I also tried to replace imm32.dll under wine too see if this could maybe fix it, but it didn't help. For the protocol, I also asked on the offical Planetside 2 German Tech Support Forum in this thread, were I was told to ask here. I'm using a Nvidia GT 120 with the property driver.
Please excuse my poor english, I'm not a native speaker.
Does anybody know who I would be able to play? So long, SysTheron.
Planetside 2 Problem
Re: Planetside 2 Problem
You didn't mention what Wine version you used. If it's not the latest development release, upgrade. The menu issue, as you already pointed out, is a known bug. When you say you replaced imm32.dll, did you also set it to native in winecfg? You need to. According to the AppDB, you also need to have the correct version of imm32.dll for it to work, and if you are using a 64 bit wineprefix, it needs to be placed in syswow64. http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.p ... &iId=27109
