Diablo 2 1.11b Error: Signal frequency is out of range

Post by Kadano »

Hello, I am currently away from my computer so I can't post error logs.
However, when I start Diablo 2, it soon turns black (though I can see the menu and also start the game with my character) and my monitor tells me that the signal frequency is out of range. The game closes itself.
Where can I change my signal frequency rate for this application?

Try running it in the virtual terminal (enabled via winecfg -> graphics tab).

Yeah I already figured that out but I'd prefer fullscreen...
Thanks anyway.

Then check all your display modes - run 'xrandr' and verify that all of them are supported by your monitor. If not, then you have to fix that in xorg.conf file.

if you set your virtual desktop the same size as your normal resolution and after starting wine set "no border" then there is no difference between virtual desktop and fullscreen.

That's impossible with this game as its standard resolution is 800x600 (my Monitor is 1280x1024) and will automaically change the windows size to 800x600.
I reconfigured xorg.conf multiple times, I tried which signal frequency rates would work when applying 800x600 via NVidia ciónfig tool. 72 worked, so I wrote it to xorg.conf (edited every line with 800x600 to 800x600_72), but it still tells me that the signal frequency is out of range.
