winevdm.exe error

When attempting load a computer based auto repair manual program "SAAB WIS (Workstation Interface System)", which will only run under Windows 32bit and lower OS, I get the following error about half way through the installation process:

Program Error: The program 'winevdm.exe' has encountered a serious problem and needs to close.

What can I do to help remedy the problem?
