Wine became mute... again! (on JACK)

Post by Pelly »

I've installed the latest development files, but Wine is not giving any sound. What is the problem? And how can I solve it? I don't want to downgrade to stable, because UTAU becomes moody on anything past 1.5.16. The installer gave me a warning about sound. Plus, I cannot find the configuration panel. I have libasound2-dev.
EDIT: It seems like that winealsa.drv is missing. Can somebody send me it?
EDIT2: I have it in system32, but I don't have winejack. Plus, wineaudioio is missing, too.
EDIT3: It seems like that the latest development version is missing things inherently, so I'll try reinstalling in a way with an older development package, maybe stable, and upgrade to 1.5.20.

There is no more Jack driver in Wine since the audio system rewrite. The only sound drivers are for alsa, ossv4, and (on Mac OSX) coreaudio.

I did the OSSv4 update, but does it link to JACK? (since all of my sound devices are JACK)

Hi,

this issue has been discussed before, the imho recommended way is to use alsa (in wine) and redirect alsa output to jack, see following links:

http://gamesplusone.com/alsa_to_jack.html
http://www.penguinproducer.com/Blog/201 ... jack-apps/
http://alsa.opensrc.org/Jack_and_Loopba ... ack_bridge

Note that this advice comes without warranty, I haven't tested it myself.
