Window Size

Post by paperi »

Hello Dear Forum Members!

This is the first time I could not find a solution to a problem somewhere here, so it is my first post :)

I have tried to run some programs on wine but had slight problems:

1. When I run them in windowed mode they are slighly too big for my laptop screen and I cannot interact with the lower parts of the window.

2. When run in full screen or a window having the same resolution as my desktop I cannot interact with the program at all and have to switch back to desktop (interesting enough when hitting alt+tab I can interact with the window for a short time).

3. A virtual desktop does nicht change a thing.

Up till now I was not able to find a solution in the forum, if someone could point me in the right direction it would be a great help as well.

Thanks very much,

paperi

Have you a Laptop with a normal Resolution? Is your Screen too small, or not high enough to display the full running Application? Since you take note of the virtual Desktop, i don't know another solution.

Are you sure that the issue is no misconfiguration of an extreme low resolution setting?

The best way is to buy or use a big Screen for your Laptop. The virtual Desktop is "ugly" but you should able to use it. To got this work you have to set a virtual resolution higher then your Display, then its like a Zoom-Function were your field of view (native Display Resolution) follow your mouse over the virtual Screen. I'am not sure if the Fullscreenmode of your application use the virtual desktop, so to be sure just launch the application via wine as "running in window". Don't use this with applications that capture your mouse.
