Anyone tried it yet?
I got invited to "closed beta 3". So far the downloader/installer is flawless with current wine 1.5.12.
End of Nations
Re: End of Nations
Looks like the icon to start the app on Windows is for eonpatch_r.exe.
Running that, logging in, and pressing Update just kinda sits there for me,
but running it with
WINEDEBUG=+winsock,+seh wine eonpatch_r > log 2>&1
got it to start patching for me just now.

Filed http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=31637 for the crash
on actually launching the game.

Re: End of Nations
As listed in system requirements, it needs directx june 2010 update, just download it from microsoft and install to your wine prefix.
Re: End of Nations
Ubuntu 12.04 (Precise Pangolin)/Linux Mint 13 (maya), x86_64, gnome-fallback session, ATI Radeon HD 4770, driver packaging version 8.96.7-120312a-135598C-ATI (fglrx out of repos), Wine 1.4.1
Applied workaround for Ubuntu bug #859600 (http://askubuntu.com/questions/127848/w ... -pkcs11-so)
Not sure if the workaround is needed or not. Game installed and updated without problems but crashed when attempting to play. Noticed some complaints about D3DXCreateEffectEx so I installed d3dx9_36.dll with winetricks and it worked much better but still prone to start-up problems.
No problems installing or patching. May have problem connecting to patch servers when game startsw, possibly due to server loading (just try again).
Often crashes when attempting to play intro video. Crash dialog difficult to close due to the Z-axis window stacking problem. Will probably require several rounds of Alt-Tab, Alt-Space, moving windows, pressing Enter or Space, and other blind typing to get it to close.
If the intro videos play then it's stable up to the server connection screen. However, I haven't been able to connect to a server yet (possibly due to server overload).
Running full-screen with dual monitors and fglrx causes the desktop to shrink back to one monitor. The resolution is left at 640x480 and panels are left hidden if the game crashes. Alt-F1 pops up the menu in gnome-fallback but Wine hides terminals and everything else behind the crashed game window. I had to make an application shortcut so I could reset the screen without killing X:
I copied the resulting XDG/fdo desktop menu entry file from ~/.config/gnome-panel/launchers to /usr/local/share/applications to get it to show up in the menus.
Guaranteed to crash in windowed mode. If you make that mistake, edit user.reg and change it back. Search for "windowed" (in [Software\\Trion Worlds\\End of Nations\\Profile0\\Player]) and change to:

Re: End of Nations
Game does open using methods described above.
I get to shard selection screen (main menu) - after selecting the shard and joining results in "Unable to connect to shard" error. Happens every time, the game works normally in windows, no servers overload is possible. Had this in every of previous betas.
If anyone has managed to connect, please let us know.

Re: End of Nations
I found that the windowed-mode crash is about the same frequency as full-screen but is much harder to regain control from without killing X with Alt-SysRq-k.
I haven't been able to connect to a shard server either. Tried installing directplay, gfw and Java JRE (a long shot but required for some of their games) but no change. Switching OS ID from XP to Win7 had no effect.
