"Wine and WineBottler" (Turn on Coreaudio Issue)

Post by christian.james »

Hello All,
I'm am a beginner at using Wine and WineBottler. Somehow I got it to work this past week. I've been playing Diablo 2 which is a windows game. It worked percectly fine until I updated Wine to the 1.4.1 version. Ever since then, whenever I attempt to make a prefix, it'll stop at "Turn on Coreaudio..." and give me this:

I am currently running on:
Mac OS X 10.7.5
Processor 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3

Wine 1.4.1
WineBottler 1.2.5

I love Wine but I'd really love if someone could show me what the root problem is. Also, if someone could teach me more about the software. I've been looking at Youtube videos and reading a huge amount of forums and still I have no solution.
I appreciate all of your time and help.
Have a great day.

Thank you,
Christian James

Third party apps such as WineBottler are not supported here. If you want help here, install plain Wine; Macports is usually recommended for that.

There are several 3rd party apps that use Wine and not all can be supported here.

Some confusion comes with "Wine" in WineBottler. Wine bundled with WineBottler is WineBottler specific and not a normal build of Wine... normal builds of Wine in OS X are all command line usage.

Wether you use Crossover, Wineskin, ,WineBottler, PlayOnMac, etc... that all use Wine, you need to get support from the proper channels and not on this forum.

If you want to use plain Wine like this forum is about, it is easiet to get compiled and used with Macports as Dimesio already mentioned
