i have a macbook white (2010 unibody but with ram bumped up to 8gb) running mountain lion (10.8.1) with wine 1.4.1 already installed (by the regular command line approach -macports xcode quartz e.t.c) i have the disk version of guild wars 2 and have been trying to install it with wine on the mac as buying another computer (or OS) is not an option.
when i put the disk (1) and navigate to the disk drive and type in wine Gw2.exe, x11 starts up ok and the initial installer image comes up ok (so far so good). However soon afterwards, the window becomes completely black. i left it to continue anyway and after a while a message came up asking for the second disk. put that in and it continued (still with black screen). after a while the GW2 folder in wine stopped getting bigger so i exit. when i type wine Gw2.exe into the terminal i get this message:
wine Gw2.exe

after leaving it for a considerable amount of time, x11 is not open and it has not progressed any further. I know something is happening as wine is right at the top of my cpu usage but the folder is staying the same size and nothing is being downloaded.
any help or ideas on how to get it running would be greatly appreciated
