downloading wine, problems.

Post by zarker »

Where can I download wine?

The existing links for the stable and development versions (or what I suspect where once links) dont work. They dont even react to a mouse-over. However the links for the premium payware DOS interface seem to work fine. I'm using firefox browser which came with Ubuntu.

any help here please?

What page are you looking at where the links don't work?

from the homepage http://www.winehq.org/
under latest releases, choose either stable or dev version.

from this page http://www.winehq.org/announce/1.4.1
choose the link for Binary-Releases.

on this page http://www.winehq.org/download
look for a link to wine binary download....

All the links on all those pages work fine for me on Firefox 15.

Note that on the download page, "Latest stable release" and "Latest development release" are not links and never were. The download links are below that, for each distro.

sorry - I dont see anything. At the bottom of the page there's links for the source files which I didn't think were the same as the binaries. I tried following a link anyway and just got a page full of jargon.

Any further help please?

If you don't see links saying "Download Ubuntu packages", and similar links for other distros. then something is wrong with your browser.

These are not direct download links, if that's what you're expecting--they take you to instructions for each distro. Binaries are built by the distros and the links here are provided as a convenience to users.
