mount manager error in Drive mappings tab in Wincfg

Post by Arcosanti »

In the wine config program I am getting an error about the mount manager. Here is the error:

Failed to connect to the mount manager, the drive configuration cannot be edited.

How can this problem be fixed?

Where did you get Wine from? You are missing the needed 32 bit parts. If you used a distro package, report the problem to the package maintainer. If you built Wine yourself, follow these instructions for building a shared WoW64 setup: http://wiki.winehq.org/Wine64.

I downloaded the binary straight off of Sourceforge via the links from WinHQ. I originally had downloaded the 64 bit version by mistake. My PC is only a 32 bit system. The wine folder was created with the 64 bit winecfg script which was only a partial setup. Once I realized my mistake, I uninstalled the 64 bit version and installed the 32 bit version. I was able to solve the problem by deleting the wine folder and running the winecfg script from the 32 bit version. My guess is that the 64 bit version had something to do with the problem.
