Warhammer Online Wrath of Heroes serious visual problems.

Post by castlemanic »

Hi there everyone, I'm having a bit of a problem and I'm hoping that i can get some help.

This is the first time I'm using any kind of wrapping software, so I might be totally doing it wrong. However i've tried looking through the wiki, i've read the manual on http://wineskin.urgesoftware.com/, i looked at the help page on the AppDB for wrath of heroes and nothing has given me the answer.

So here is what i did:

I created a wrapper using:
wrapper version Wineskin-2.5.6

downloaded the engines:
WS9Wine1.5.10
WS8Wine1.3.28

I believe this is the latest wine version, I downloaded it from the urfesoftware url.

I downloaded the Mono or Gecko downloads when they were requested.

went through the start up phase, and the installation window looked like a windows 97 window frame. I shrugged and continued on.

finished the installation on the C drive.

i've tried both using the wrapper for the initial installation and a new wrapper for the WOHpatch.exe file

and in the patching process, some of the textures reverted to a windows 97 nature with the blue squares for the loading sign. I tried moving around the window and the original textures showed, so I thought it was a minor error and carried on through the patching process.

once the patch was completed, i clicked the play button (grayed out by the 97 windows-esque textures) and then a white screen came up. I waited a little bit and then finally this showed up:

So i repeated the process, using a different engine, different wrappers, i've tried editing the wrappers to the best of my novice abilities, and it all wound up with the same black and white pixel screen.

Am I doing something wrong here? Any help would be appreciated.

Oh wow, i apologise, i had thought it was the official wine.

I've been looking through the main sites and i havent found anything that says mac download anywhere, if i could get some help on what to download and how to use it that would be great, because I'm not understanding anything on the website.

Does using wine consist of a lot of programming?

Wine on Mac is compile yourself and run all command line.

If you want to do this easily since you already have Wineskin, there is a button in Wineskin.app called "Command Line Wine Test" you can use. Make sure you have a engine that is a normal Wine build (WS9Wine1.5.10 <--- nothing after the Wine version... is a normal build), and when you use Command Line Wine Test, it will launch up Terminal and let you run Wine normal through the command line so you can skip the whole need to try to compile it yourself. Winetricks command line will also work... everything will install to ~/.wine as your normal wineprefix, because at that point its ignoring the wrapper and just running Wine like you had done it all from scratch... but its still all command line, so not terribly easy if you aren't used to Terminal.

You might also get some help with Wineskin and specific games over at Portingteam.com, as there are many Wineskin users there.
