What cad software works on Wine?

Post by cadguy »

I am sick of Windows and looking to switch to a Linux system. I run 3D Studio Max, Rhino 3d, Maya, AutoCad, Inventor, Solidworks, Pro/Engineer, and Photoshop. Will all of these be supported in Wine or am I doomed to Windows? The other thing is which Linux is best for doing what I do?

Search for each of those in the AppDB (see above tab) to find out.

But if you want all of them to work perfectly, Wine is not (yet) for you.

Is there any known emulators to make it work? Cause I am very sick of Windows.

FYI, I have successfully installed the following CAD viewers on Ubuntu 12.04 with wine 1.5.7 :-
-- Autodesk Volo View 3.0
-- Bentley View 2004 Edition
Each of these run fine for viewing DXF and DGN files, respectively.
