Kindle won't connect to archive

I've got Kindle running fine - wine 1.4, latest kindle version - EXCEPT:

1) it always presents the registration screen when starting and
2) it can't see my book archive.

Amazon shows the "registration" on my Manage Your Kindle page.

How can I get it to connect to the archive/remember my registration?

I don't have either problem in 1.5.7. Try upgrading.

Upgrade it the same way you installed in the first place, either via your package manager or by building the newer version yourself.

Close any apps running in Wine before upgrading.

Hm. Yes, thanks. FWIW, the AppDB shows Kindle working fine under 1.4 Wine. And, FWIW, I'm using Wine as it came "out of the box" with my Ubuntu system. Two different Ubuntu systems, actually.

What version of Ubuntu? If it's 12.04, read the sticky at the top of the forum.

Regarding the "two different" systems, you did install and register Kindle for PC separately on each one, didn't you? Because Amazon sees them as separate devices. Even two wineprefixes on the same system have to be registered individually.
