Help with google sketchup 8 installing with Winetricks

OK I am new here. So pardon me but, I updated winetricks this evening through the package manager and then tried to install googlesketchup8 on Ubuntu 11.10

Has anyone got it to work and how? is there any patches and how would I go about setting up the patch? As I saw one for winetricks but I thought I would update first and then get some help on here if it still didn't work.

V.15 from the repository

NOTHING! google sketchup 8 icon on the desk top, followed the registry alterations but still NOTHING!

anyone got any ideas?

If you mean you used winetricks sketchup to install it and it didn't work, report the problem to http://winetricks.org.

OK well it seems like an old error that says its fixed but 1.5 says not. even if i report it, it says its fixed?

Working around wine bug 14045

thats what the error code that comes up at the end of the install, the desk top icons show up in ubuntu 11.10, wine tricks prefix folder is there, it just wont run, the cursor goes slow then goes back to normal and nothing.

anyone got any ideas?

Yes, as you were told before, report a bug to the winetricks team. We
cannot fix their processes and they will report bugs that affect their
product if they exist in Wine.

SketchUp should work. Have you tried just installing it directly?

Make sure you have the latest winetricks, downloaded directly from winetricks.org, before reporting it. The one in your distro's repository may not be the latest.

Report this as a bug to the winetricks folks if it is breaking SKetchup.

I updated winetricks to know about bug 14045 being fixed in 1.3.18.

Works for me now (though I think it did before, too).
