Rybka: err:gdi:alloc_gdi_handle out of GDI object handles

When using Rybka (chess application) with Wine1.2, it runs perfectly for several minutes. But then after a seemingly random amount of time, the fonts in the program change then there is a Program Error. It is easy to then kill the application. Sometimes this takes half an hour to occur and other times it takes 2 minutes and I can find no actual cause.

Terminal output reveals a lot of this during the crash:

err:gdi:alloc_gdi_handle out of GDI object handles, expect a crash

It seems others have this problem with other games.

Is there a known solution and what is causing the problem?

When using Rybka (chess application) with Wine1.2,

That version is almost two years old and no longer supported. Upgrade to the latest development release.

I upgraded and haven't had the problem yet. However, all the black pieces on the board have turned gray, making them very difficult to see! I think the chess pieces are a certain font...
