Hi all,
I am currently attempting to play Red Alert 2 on my Ubuntu 11.10 installation under Wine. Now, Red Alert 2 will launch fine, as expected on a Windows machine. The most minor error is the campaign selection screen where it takes an "alt-tab" to respond. I'm not so worried about this error.
However, when I enter a single player game (Skirmish or Campaign), whenever the game allows me to control my units, the game will freeze, and become entirely unresponsive, which means I have to hard reset my computer. This does not apply until I actually have control over my units. (For example, little in game cutscenes do not freeze up.)
Has anyone had this problem/know how to fix it?
Thanks,
Bnyan

A small tip regarding the Ghats reset. Try pressing alt+ctrl+1 and login.
There you can write "killall nameofapp. If you don't know the name, write
"top" and hit enter and it usually shows up there. When it's done, return
to desktop by hitting ctrl+alt+7 (in most disrepair I have used). Regarding
the c&c ra2question I'm clueless

Red Alert 2: Odd problem
Hello,
I just tried Red Alert 2 version 1.006 with wine version wine-1.4 here on
Ubuntu 11.10 amd64 and I can tell that I do not have this issue.
I just started the alliet campaign and controlling Tanja worked without problems.
Maybe it is related to the video card or drivers.
My video card is a nVidia GeForce GTX 460 with drivers 280.13 from nVidia.
