I've downloaded the WOW beta installer. In a terminal I started with: "cd /home/myuser/.wine". Got the no such file or directory. Ok, plan B. In a file manager right click on the .exe and try to specify where I want the install to go. The windows installer can't see .directories. I presume I'm doing something wrong. If I have to I'll install it to a directory in the normal Linux file system (which it can see), unless that's a horrible idea.
Duh, Homer Simpson moment. I got in a hurry and forgot to use the syntax for navigating from the Win point of view. I tried that because of the second part of my question (sorry, I reversed, I was really tired at the time of post). As stated, the installer that Blizzard is using for this app does not see the /.wine tree. Therefore, the right click method doesn't see /.wine. I would like to install this in the /.wine tree. Can I change /.wine to a normal (not hidden) dir just for the install without giving Wine problems? Or, is there some other solution that would be "better"?
I've made the mistake of thinking this is too new to be in the AppDB. It is. The WOW and Diablo3 beta installers have the same problem. There are supposedly (maybe) two patches that will make the installer work. Is there any chance they will make it into 1.5.2?
I have my answer to my last question. 1.5.2 just hit my distros repo, updated, but no difference. Apparently the needed patches didn't make it in this time. Maybe next time.
